Tour - Wildcat Fireflies (Meridian Intervew & Giveaway)

Answer as Meridian.
1. As you shared the beginning of your story with us, was there any feelings you couldn't put into words, you wish you had?
It’s been less than six months since I arrived at Revelation. There have been a couple of lifetimes of events since then—Juliet and the new coalition. There are tons of things I can’t put into words—not then and not now. I know I’m supposed to be able to express myself with the written word, but there are just times when the feelings are too big. Too much. You know? Like it’s a whole parade inside and just overwhelming?

2. How are you coping without Auntie and how much will that affect the second part of your story?
I have Tens. He’s the only reason I can keep breathing. I’m just trying to figure it all out.  Auntie started this for me, but I’m going to have to finish it.

3. Do you wish you could change some things or ways you acted in the first story?
Don’t you? It’s life, we don’t get do overs.

4. Tens, how are things going these days between you and him?
Good, great, terrible. Depends on the moment right? He’s impossible to get to talk. And he thinks he knows what’s right for me, for us. If he’d listen to me—bah, like that’ll happen.

5. Will there be additional stories we can look forward to after book 2?
Yes, SPEED OF LIGHT will be out in the fall of 2012. It takes place in May and around Memorial Day.
Amber told me I had to include this, she does try to boss me around so in this case I won’t fight her:  Readers can find Amber online and are welcome to email with questions: Amber@AmberKizer.com ( She replies in order they are received so please be patient!)  She sends signed bookplates and bookmarks to readers anywhere in the world since she can’t go everywhere to sign books! Tour - The Light Of Asteria (Gavin Interview) & Giveaway

Answered as Gavin.

1.Tell us about yourself?
My Name is Gavin Frey. I speak all of the languages of man and, when I can find spare time, I like to sculpt and paint. I can hold my own in battle, and I’m fond of hiking and rock climbing. I do like to swim … as long as I can see the shore. I’ve traveled to every continent, and I’ve found that the mountains of the Appalachia are my favorite place on earth. One thing I cannot stand is the smell of large cities.

2. Did the transfer of powers affect you in any way?
You must understand, the power that flows through Nora lay dormant through her lineage, and the first time I touched her that energy was unleashed. I transferred nothing to her, but as for how it affected me [his eyes warm as he grins] let’s just say I’ve never felt better.

3. How do you feel about Nora?
How does the earth feel about the sun? How does the parched land feel about the rain? I love Nora with the very breath I take, with everything I am. It is my goal that she is protected and cherished every day of her life.

4. If you could change anything what would it be?
I would give this world peace.

5. Do you have a favorite adventure?
I have many adventures, all of which I’m sure Elias would not appreciate me discussing. But my greatest adventure, the one that has altered the course of my life, has been the decision to come … to the Appalachia. It is my favorite by far, for it led me to my source.

Tour - The Detention Club ( Book Picks)

David Yoo shares with us what his book picks were....

My favorite books when I was in elementary school was Roald Dahl’s Danny the Champion of the World, Judy Blume’s Then Again, Maybe I Won’t, and S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders. I also really liked The Meat in the Sandwich, by Alice Bach, because it was the only “sports” novel I owned at the time, and The Girl Who Owned a City, by O.T. Nelson, which is like Stephen King’s The Stand, only for kids. (I also re-read The Stand back in fifth grade countless times, for that matter.)

My sagging bookshelves (sagging because I built them myself) have a little of everything in them. To pick a few titles that aren’t specifically intended for children that teens might miss as a result—I revere The Last Picture Show, by James McMurtry, Goodbye, Columbus, by Philip Roth, Into the Great Wide Open, by Kevin Canty, Rain, by Kirsty Gunn, and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog, by Dylan Thomas.

That said, the shelf I most often go to for pleasure reading features the entire works of Lucia Berlin and James M Cain, probably my two favorite writers, ever.

Tour - Songbird (teenage garage sale)

Teenage Garage Sale
High school never seemed that long ago until I started thinking about items from my teens I would have in a garage sale. What scares me the most is that almost all of this stuff is still sitting in my closet!
Doc Martin Army boots - real leather, knee high boots. Worn just about every day throughout high school. My favorite time to wear these was with my black leggings and blue and black striped jersey dress from hot Topic.
"Jagged Little Pill" Alanis Morissette CD - used on the bus ride home to lament imagined frustrations with the world. That I also had her debut album of bubble gum pop was purely a coincidence.
To Kill a Mocking Bird - color coded beyond belief with examples of symbolism, metaphors, and similes. Upon first read, I loved this book. After two months of pulling it apart in English class, I swore to never read it again!
Tiger tail (rear view mirror decoration) - A representation of school pride, despite never once going to a school sporting event to cheer on our 'Tigers'.
Glasses - large, round, dark framed glasses that are sure to be unflattering on any face.
Sketch book - half filled with partially complete pictures of random people. My dreams of being an artist were dashed when I discovered it took me years to complete a single piece.
Collection of recycled-paper Journals - completely unused, purchased only because I liked the idea of having a journal, and being environmentally friendly at the same time.
Edmonton Folk Fest tickets and program guide - Used tickets for the 1997 Edmonton Folk Festival, the guide is signed by various acts including the members of my favorite Canadian folk group, Captain Tractor.
Extra Large Canadian flag - Given to me free by the Canadian government, simply because I asked, this has flown high in my living room every Canada Day since.
Leather biker jacket - Sleek with a one inch raised collar, I thought this was so cool, except when I walked into The Body Shop, then I was just consumed by guilt.
Desperado VHS - Wow. Antonio Banderas was really hot! He was probably the first MAN actor that I crushed on. This movie helped me learn to appreciate muscles.

About the Author/Book
Bio: Courtney Vail writes totally twisted YA and adult suspense. She enjoys braiding mystery, suspense & romance with some kind of weirdness. Her addictions to crazy coffee concoctions, Funny Bones, Ben & Jerry', and bacon keep her running and writing. She currently lives in New England with a comedian stud and a wild gang of kidlets.

Synopsis: I have two versions, one is straight-up and the other has more voice.

Voice: Seventeen-year-old Majesty Alistair wants police to look further into her father’s fatal car wreck, hopes the baseball team she manages can reclaim the state crown, aches for Derek…or, no…maybe Alec…maybe. And she mostly wishes to retract the hateful words she said to her dad right bef ore slamming the door in his face, only to never see him again.

All her desires get sidelined, though, when she overhears two fellow students planning a church massacre. She doubts cops will follow up on her tip since they’re sick of her coming around with notions of possible crimes-in-the-works. And it’s not like she cries wolf. Not really. They’d be freaked too, but they’re not the ones suffering from bloody dreams that hint at disaster like some crazy, street guy forecasting the Apocalypse.

So, she does what any habitual winner with zero cred would do…try to I.D. the nutjobs before they act. But, when their agenda turns out to be far bigger than she ever assumed, and even friends start looking suspect, the truth and her actions threaten to haunt her forever, especially since she’s left with blood on her hands, the blood of someone she loves.

Straight-up:
In glitzy Cedar Creek, where mansions and urban legends bloom, forget baseball; violence is the new celebrated pastime.

When seventeen-year-old Majesty Alistair overhears two fellow students planning a church massacre in her ill-boding town woods, she can't budge police, so she aims to I.D. the nutjobs herself before they act. But, they have an agenda far bigger than she ever assumed. Violence rocks the town, leaving residents reeling and yanking Majesty into the middle of it all.

With danger always pressing, police seemingly getting nowhere and those closest to her looking guilty, she continues hunting and charges into an evil web. But the truth and her actions threaten to haunt her forever, especially since she’s left with blood on her hands, the blood of someone she loves.

Here is what people are saying about Kings & Queens:

"Gritty, emotional, and, at times, deeply disturbing, Kings & Queens heralds the arrival of an exciting voice in young adult fiction."  ~ Jessica Chambers, Voices on the Waves

"A thrilling, mysterious tale with an ending that moved me to tears." ~ Sybil Nelson, Priscilla the Great

"An action-packed adventure where the stakes are high and the players ruthless." ~ J.L. Campbell, Contraband
