Brinda Berry Guest Post & Giveaway

A missing boy, government agents, an interdimensional portal...

Mia has one goal for her senior year at Whispering Woods High—find her missing older brother. But when her science project reveals a portal into another dimension, she learns that travelers are moving in and out of her woods in the most alarming way and government agents Regulus and Arizona are policing their immigration. Mia’s drawn to the mysterious, aloof Regulus, but it’s no time for a crush. She needs to find out what they know about her brother, while the agents fight to save the world from viral contamination. But when Regulus reveals that he knows Mia’s secrets, she begins to wonder if there’s more going on than she thought...and if she was wrong to trust him...

Brinda has nicely stopped by the blog to share with us What her closet says about you.

What Does Your Closet Say About You?

I believe that the contents of your closet tell a lot about you as a person. Are you neat and orderly? Are the shoes lined up at the bottom? Do you have clothing to fit every occasion? The main character in my YA fantasy, The Waiting Booth, is Mia Taylor. Mia's closet could tell you a lot about her personality, beliefs, and attitude.

Step into Mia's closet with me. Well, you can't really step in as much as around. Seventeen years of collecting things can add up to quite a pile. Mia's closet is a walk-in, but please don't step on her leaf collection book from the seventh grade. Yes, you'll need to move the Rock Band drum set. Okay? Mia's older brother let her play that because he preferred the lead guitar. Since he disappeared, it just gathers dust.

The shelves are brimming over with boxes. There are shoeboxes filled with video games and comic books. Of course, they belonged to Mia's brother once. She's not a total tomboy. Wait. Mia does have some barbie dolls somewhere. Oh, there's one. Yikes..somebody drew camo makeup on her face with crayon. At least it matches the GI Joe pants that Barbie must have borrowed.

If you look at the closet rod on the right, these are all Mia's jeans and t-shirts. Some of the jeans are too small, so she doesn't even wear them. Several are faded with holes and tears. There aren't that many that Mia wears since she doesn't shop. Shopping is so not her thing. There are tons of t-shirts. Some are hand-me-downs. She ordered many online. They all have an interesting logo or saying. By interesting, I mean...well, here's the truth. Mia tends to be sarcastic and her t-shirts' slogans prove that.

Then, there is that dress and cardigan that her best friend's mom bought for her. Both are crammed into the dark recesses at the far end of the rod. Why she chose to wear that for her "date" with Regulus is a mystery to both of us.

The rod to the left is empty except for a few wire hangers. Mia lives alone now with her dad, and he's not much for shopping either. He also doesn't have a clue as to what's in her closet. Ahhhh...don't be sad for Mia. Mia's dad is the coolest. She can do whatever she wants...until it comes to boys. He is a little protective.

Someday, she plans to organize all her things. Maybe. For now, it will have to wait. Mia's top priority is to find her missing brother. She'll leave the organization and fashion to her bestie, Em.

So, are you laid back or totally organized? Color-coordinated or basic black? T-shirts or fashion chic? What does your closet say about you?
