Author Spotlight- Suzanne Young & Giveaway

This week I have the pleasure to introduce and interview with Suzanne Young, writer of recent novel The Naughty List and Upcoming Novel So Many Boys.
Thank you so much for agreeing to interview with us Suzanne, be sure to enter giveaway at end of post.

When did you write your first book, published or non?
Technically I wrote my first book in 7th grade. It was murder mystery starring all of my friends, and honestly, not very good. But my first full-length novel was written in 2007. I wrote three more after that one and sold in 2008.
What did you find to be the hardest part of getting your writing published?
Finding an agent. I actually thought that getting an agent to take me on was way tougher than editors.

As a mom, we have a hard time  with getting time to read/write.. how do you juggle family life with your time to write as well?
It's all a blur... but really, when I was working I'd write before, during lunch, and then at night. Now I wait until my kids are at school and dive in. But I'll admit, my house isn't in great shape. I had to make choices, some of them not involving vacuuming.

How did you come up with the idea for TNL?
At first I was just joking around with a friend about a group of ninja cheerleaders throwing sparkly death stars. But once I started writing it I fell in love with Tessa's voice. She shaped the story after that.

Are any of your characters based off of people’s personalities you know in your everyday life?
Not in this book. Although I do wish I had an Aiden somewhere in my past.

There has been a lot of controversy over cover arts lately, did you have a say in the cover and are you happy with it?
I did not have a say. I love the window theme--set up to show what SOS sees when they spy. But I could have gone for a different pic inside. I'm not sure it represents the cute factor of the book.

I was reading that TNL had some additional titles and some different ideas.. can you share with us?
I'm scared to. lol Well, first off the title was SexKittens. Those that read the book know that the girls cheer for the Wildcats so rival teams call them that to ruffle their pom-poms. The second title was Smitten Kittens. I still have a soft spot for that one. And the ending was different altogether, but I can't say what it was. :-) But originally TNL was a stand alone novel.
What now, give us a sneak peak of what to expect next?
I have two more Naughty List novels coming out this year, and I've been very excited to announce a new book that I'll have out next summer. It's called A NEED SO BEAUTIFUL and it's a paranormal romance about a girl who's compelled to do good deeds, even as they threaten to destroy her. To say I love this book is a huge understatement. I can't wait to share it with everyone.
When your writing is there any inspirational tools you use, such as music, quotes, photos?
I sometimes listen to music, but lately I've just been getting really into my characters and letting them inspire me. I consider myself a method writer. haha
Any tips for aspiring writers?
Keep writing!! It was my 5th novel that sold.
Anything else you would like to add?
Just that I appreciate the wonderful reviews The Naughty List is getting and I'm so thankful for everyone that's supported this book!

Thanks for the great contest! I can't read the interview though because the text is in black and it blends with the background. Sniff Sniff

Thanks for the giveaway!
I'm not sure if it's just my browser, but I had to highlight the whole interview to be able to read it...it's really dark against the dark backgroud.

I had trouble reading the text as well.

Thanks for the contest, I was another that had trouble reading the text for the interview but I'll be checking back just in case it was just my computer acting up or something!
